My name is Mrs. Judy Smith and I am the School Counselor at Springfield Township Middle School. The 2009 - 2010 school year is my fifteenth year at STMS.  Prior to my current position, I was the School Counselor at Erdenheim Elementary School for three years and before that I was a K-8 School Counselor for the Non-Public School Services division of the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit for six years.  I have a B.S. degree in Individual and Family Studies from The Pennsylvania State University and a M.Ed. in Counseling Psychology from Temple University.  I hold active memberships in the American Counseling Association, the American School Counselors Association, and the Pennsylvania School Counselor's Association.

In addition to my counseling duties, I enjoy being a Reading Olympics Advisor, Peer Helper Advisor, and home scorekeeper for the girls' and boys' basketball teams as well as the track team.  I am also a member of our building's student assistance team (The CARE Team) and am Chairperson of our school's Olweus Coordinating Committee.

As a middle school counselor, my goal is to assist students in reaching their full academic and emotional potential.  The primary responsibility of a school is to educate.  Sometimes, developmental issues or life stressors interfere with students' achievement.  My goal is to help students remove or learn to live with the stressors of their lives so that they can meet success at the highest level possible.  I am available to meet with students individually and in groups.  Click here to see a list of the many ways the Guidance Office can serve students and parents [Link]  (link coming soon)

I hope that this webpage will be a helpful resource for you.  Throughout the year you will find information about resources available to you in my office, in the community, and on the internet.  In the right hand column, you will find links to various information on this web page as well as important school and district links.  Please call me if I can be of any assistance to you or your child.  I can be reached at 215-233-6070 Ext. 3004 or via email at judith_smith@sdst.org .
