A little about me:
Having met many of you at back to school night, you know that this is my first year at Springfield Middle School; what a wonderful year it has been so far! My background includes 22 years as a naval officer, until I retired in August, 2008. I have lived in, or visited over 30 countries, I had command of a ship at sea in wartime, and command of two shore installations, as well as many other assignments afloat and ashore. I use the experiences from those years in the service in the classroom when appropriate to enhance the lessons, or to make a point about one of my core, classroom values: Be Prepared to Learn, Respect, Integrity, Courage, and Expectations.
I graduated from the U. S. Merchant Marine Academy with a BS in Nautical Science, and I received my MS Ed from Old Dominion University while on active duty. My first teaching job after retirement was at Springfield HS where I taught Earth Science, Physical Science and Pre-Algebra.
